Janet Lowndes is a Psychologist, Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist who has been working therapeutically with individual clients for over 20 years. Janet’s particular interest is in the psychology of food and eating, and she works primarily with people experiencing challenges with eating behaviours, body image, and eating disorders.
Janet’s work is concerned with in the way we live in relationship with our bodies, and with each other. Along with providing individual therapy Janet also supervises a number of health professionals who work in the area of the psychology of food, eating and body image. Janet’s approach is one which emphasises wellbeing rather than weight, with a focus on healthy processes or lifestyle change, rather than a preoccupation with outcomes such as numbers of kilograms or dress sizes. Developing a healthy mind body relationship is one of the keys to making choices which can enhance health and wellbeing in the long term. Fostering self-worth and self-care are also central to this approach. Janet is the director of Mind Body Well, a group practice focused on assisting people with eating disorders, weight management and body image issues - using a non-dieting, body positive approach. She also teaches Yoga Teachers to become Yoga Therapists, and she is a Community Partner of the Yoga and Body image Coalition. |
We all have a strong Health At Every Size (R), NonDiet and Health-First philosophy which will be incorporated into workshops right through the retreat. We also believe that taking care of yourself is absolutely the key to offering a top-class service to your clients as well as finding space in your days for other important people and tasks.
We're really hoping this first-of-it's-kind retreat will offer a unique space for Health Professionals to come together, explore issues, learn, grow and.....what we all love doing most.....eat, and have fun!

We have no tolerance for fear-mongering and anxiety-fuelled messages about food, eating and bodies - but we also love to have a laugh and a wine when things get a bit ridiculous!
